RLI STIPEND

Each year the North Carolina Radiological Society (North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Radiology) supports scholarships to attend the Radiology Leadership Institute annual summit for appropriate candidates who have demonstrated involvement in the ACR or other local radiology groups.

The number of scholarships will depend on the number of applications and funds available (virtual will allow for more scholarships than in-person), but there will be at least one separate scholarship each for a long-standing member and a YPS member.

Those who wish to apply should send a letter of intent describing why they are applying including, how the RLI program will improve their leadership and service to radiology, and an updated CV to NCRS Secretary Sarah Franklin (secretary@ncradiology.org) and Dr. Valerie Jewells (jewells@ncradiology.org).

After attending the RLI activity, the scholarship recipients are required to write up a synopsis of what they learned and how they will implement changes. They are also required attend at least one NC ACR meeting.

GLOBAL HEALTH FELLOWSHIP

The NC chapter of the American College of Radiology recognizes that we can join with others in the larger radiology community to meet the need for robust medical imaging in the developing world.  To that end, The NC-ACR is offering 2 travel fellowships for efforts in Global Health in the amount of $500 each, available by application to the Executive Committee or its delegates. These grants are open to Resident and Fellow Section members or the Young Physician members.  The following is the process

  1. Submit the application, a CV, and 2 letters of recommendation to the NC-ACR via the organization’s executive secretary (sfrankli1420@gmail.com)

  2. Packets will be received and reviewed twice per year (March 1st and September 1st).  Awards may be offered in one or both periods.  In the absence of a compelling application, awards may be deferred to another application period

  3. Applicants will be notified of the results after the next meeting of the executive committee of the NC-ACR (spring or fall)

  4. Successful applicants will be expected to report of their service experiences to the NC-ACR via an article for the membership newsletter or a poster presentation at the National ACR meeting in Washington, DC, the following May (pending acceptance).  If desired, a mentor will be provided to guide a poster presentation.

We as a radiology community look forward to learning about the service and education efforts of our members, participating with them as we can, and sharing these stories of giving.

Please feel free to contact the NC-ACR with any questions.
